Vista California was named after the Spanish word associated with the meaning "view". As you travel either north or south from highway 78, you'll make your way through small peaks and valleys giving way to panoramic views of North County San Diego with some spectacular views of the ocean and surrounding areas. Located about 10 miles inland from the ocean, residents still get the feeling of the nearby ocean in the morning as the marine layers fades to the beautiful sun that soaks this great city.
Not only is Vista know for it's weather, but it hosts one of North County San Diego's most successful business parks. Ranking comparably to Carlsbad's business park, Vista's business park contains more than 650 business and occupies over 12 million square feet of commercial real estate as compared to Carlsbad's park which occupies about 13 million square feet.
Vista has also brought in companies such as Lowe's, Staples, and the Krikorian Theater in an effort to redevelop downtown Vista. Small shops and great dining line the streets of downtown Vista making it a great place to shop and spend the evening out with the family.
Centrally located in the middle of North County San Diego, Vista is within minutes of the many of the beach cities and other cities such as San Marcos, Escondido, Fallbrook and Rancho Bernardo that border the inland I-15 corridor. The book 50 Fabulous Places to Raise Your Family listed Vista as the 7th best place in the US for family life, based on its highly-rated school system, weather, and business climate.
