North San Diego County is made up of serveral wonderful cities that are within a 30 minute drive to Camp Pendleton and/or the Pacific Ocean. Oceanside is the closest community to Camp Pendelton located just south of the base. Just south of Oceanside is the city of Carlsbad. Just east on the 78 highway is the city of Vista. San Marcos would be the next city heading east on the 78 highway. As you approach the merge of the I-15 Freeway and the 78 highway you arrive in Escondido. Just north of Escondido along the I-15 Freeway you arrive in Fallbrook. Camp Pendelton has an entrance gate in the Fallbrook area.
